Concrete Repair in Rustburg, Virginia
Challenge
A homeowner in Rustburg reached out after noticing uneven concrete along their front walkway and porch steps. Over time, sections had sunk unevenly, creating gaps between slabs and making entry to the home unsafe for guests. The uneven surfaces also negatively impacted curb appeal.
Our inspection revealed that water runoff and soil washout beneath the concrete had created empty spaces below the slabs. Without adequate support, the concrete gradually settled. Although the slabs were still intact, continued sinking could worsen alignment issues and lead to cracking. The homeowner wanted a permanent repair solution that would stabilize the area and prevent future movement.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions installed a polyurethane foam injection system to lift and stabilize the affected concrete. Small injection ports were drilled, allowing expanding foam to be delivered beneath the slab.
As the foam expanded, it filled voids, strengthened the underlying soil, and precisely raised the concrete back into alignment. The lightweight nature of the foam ensured no additional stress was placed on the soil below.
Once complete, the walkway and porch were level and secure. The homeowner regained safe access to their home and improved the overall appearance of their Rustburg property.
