Basement Waterproofing in Ferrum, Virginia
Challenge
Kristie, a homeowner in Ferrum, contacted Fortress Foundation Solutions after noticing moisture issues in her basement that seemed to worsen over time. After heavy rain, water would seep in along the perimeter walls, leaving damp areas and occasional pooling near one corner. The space also developed a musty smell, indicating elevated humidity levels.
During our evaluation, we determined that groundwater buildup around the foundation was creating hydrostatic pressure against the basement walls. This pressure forced water through porous concrete and the cove joint where the wall meets the floor. Without a proper waterproofing system, the basement remained vulnerable to repeated water intrusion.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions installed a full interior waterproofing system to address the issue. A WaterGuard® drainage system was installed beneath the slab along the perimeter of the basement to capture and redirect incoming water.
The system was connected to a TripleSafe™ sump pump to ensure efficient and reliable water removal. Additionally, a SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier was installed to regulate humidity levels and maintain a dry, healthy environment.
