Encapsulating and Stabilizing Sagging Floors in Wardensville, Virginia
Challenge
This homeowner in Wardensville, Virginia started noticing a few issues that didn’t seem connected at first. Some areas of the floor felt uneven and slightly bouncy, while a musty smell lingered throughout the home.
The floors didn’t feel as stable, and the air felt damp. That’s when they decided to have the crawl space inspected by Fortress Foundation Solutions.
Once we got a look underneath the home, the issues were clear. There was excess moisture, poor drainage, and exposed ground allowing humidity to build up. Over time, that moisture had begun affecting the support system, leading to the sagging floors above.
Solution
We recommended a Crawl Space Encapsulation and adding in support jacks to rectify these issues.
First, we installed our EZ Flow Crawl Space drainage system and a SuperSump® sump pump to control and remove water. Then we encapsulated the space with the CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier and added a SaniDry™ Sedona dehumidifier to keep humidity levels in check.
To stabilize the floors, we installed SmartJacks® beneath the affected areas. These solutions work together to keep the crawl space clean, dry, and stable year round.
