Sinking stairs in Vienna, Virginia
Challenge
A sinking stoop pulling away from a sliding patio door raised concerns for homeowners in Vienna, Virginia. As they prepared for the summer season and hosting guests in their backyard, they knew they needed a solution to eliminate the tripping hazard.
They reached out to Fortress Foundation Solutions, and Cara was the System Designer assigned to the project. After measuring the void beneath the stoop, she reassured the homeowners that we could properly stabilize and repair it.
Solution
Ethan and Samuel came out to lift and level the staircase back to its original position. There was a 3-inch void underneath the steps — but for them, this was considered an easy job.
They drilled dime sized holes through the steps and injected our polyfoam beneath the slab to compress the soil, lift the stairs back into place, and level everything out.
Now, the homeowner is more than ready for hosting parties in their backyard this summer.
