Crawl Space Encapsulation in Grottoes, Virginia
Challenge
A homeowner in Grottoes, Virginia experienced repeated crawl space flooding after heavy rainstorms. Water would pool across the dirt floor, soaking insulation and creating a strong musty odor that traveled into the home. Over time, the excessive moisture caused rust on ductwork and raised concerns about mold and long-term structural damage.
Solution
Our System Design Specialist identified groundwater intrusion combined with poor moisture control as the root cause. The crawl space was fully encapsulated using the CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier, sealing the ground and walls to block external moisture. A drainage solution was incorporated to manage bulk water, while the SaniDry™ Sedona dehumidifier was installed to regulate humidity and filter the air.
After installation, the crawl space remained dry even after heavy storms, odors disappeared, and the homeowner gained confidence knowing their home was protected year-round.
