Crawl Space Repair in Charlottesville, Virginia
Challenge
A homeowner in Charlottesville reached out after experiencing ongoing allergy symptoms and unexplained indoor humidity issues. Although the HVAC system was functioning properly, the home still felt damp during humid seasons. Upon checking the crawl space, the homeowner found sagging insulation and visible condensation along ductwork.
Our inspection revealed that the exposed soil in the crawl space was allowing moisture vapor to rise freely into the area. Without a proper vapor barrier, humidity levels remained elevated, impacting the air quality inside the home. Additionally, damp insulation had lost much of its effectiveness, reducing energy efficiency. The homeowner wanted a comprehensive solution to eliminate moisture at its source.
Solution
We recommended installing the CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier System to encapsulate the entire crawl space. The durable liner was secured to both the floor and walls, sealing out ground moisture and creating a protective barrier against vapor intrusion.
To further improve conditions, a SaniDry™ Sedona dehumidifier was installed to maintain consistent humidity control. The system now continuously removes excess moisture, helping to protect structural components and improve indoor air quality.
Following installation, humidity levels dropped significantly, and the homeowner reported improved comfort and reduced allergy symptoms throughout their Charlottesville home.
