Crawl Space Repair in Lynchburg, Virginia
Challenge
A homeowner in Lynchburg contacted Fortress Foundation Solutions after noticing a persistent musty odor inside their home that seemed to worsen after heavy rainfall. The floors felt damp at times, and indoor humidity levels remained elevated despite regular HVAC use. Concerned about potential mold growth and structural damage, the homeowner scheduled a crawl space inspection.
During the evaluation, our specialist found exposed soil, standing water in low areas, and insulation that had fallen due to moisture exposure. Groundwater vapor was freely entering the crawl space, creating an environment with consistently high humidity. Wooden support beams showed early signs of moisture staining, and the homeowner was worried about long-term structural deterioration. Without a proper moisture control system in place, the problem would likely continue to worsen.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions recommended a full encapsulation using the CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier System. The durable liner was installed across the crawl space floor and extended up the foundation walls, sealing out ground moisture and preventing vapor intrusion. Seams were securely fastened to create a continuous barrier.
To ensure year-round humidity control, a SaniDry™ Sedona dehumidifier was installed to actively regulate moisture levels and protect the structural components beneath the home.
After installation, the crawl space became dry, clean, and stable. The homeowner noticed improved air quality and greater comfort throughout their Lynchburg home.
