Crawl Space Repair in Staunton, Virginia
Challenge
A homeowner in Staunton reached out to Fortress Foundation Solutions after noticing a strong musty odor throughout their home and higher-than-normal humidity levels indoors. They suspected the crawl space was contributing to the issue, especially since the home had experienced several heavy rain events over the past year.
When our team inspected the crawl space, we found exposed soil, damp insulation, and moisture collecting along the foundation walls. The crawl space ventilation was insufficient to control humidity, allowing moisture to accumulate beneath the home. Elevated humidity levels were affecting the wooden framing and increasing the risk of mold growth and structural damage.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions recommended a comprehensive crawl space encapsulation system. The CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier was installed across the floor and walls to create a sealed moisture barrier that blocks ground vapor and outside humidity from entering the crawl space.
To further improve moisture control, we installed the SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier. This high-performance unit maintains proper humidity levels and continuously circulates dry air throughout the crawl space.
After the installation was completed, the crawl space in Staunton was clean, dry, and protected from moisture-related problems. The homeowner reported improved air quality and greater comfort inside the home, along with confidence that their crawl space was properly sealed and maintained.
