Crawl Space Repair in Roanoke, Virginia
Challenge
A homeowner in Roanoke contacted Fortress Foundation Solutions after discovering damp insulation and standing water in their crawl space following several heavy rainstorms. The homeowner also noticed a strong musty odor inside the house and was concerned that moisture from the crawl space might be affecting the home’s structure.
Our inspection revealed that the crawl space had poor moisture protection and exposed soil throughout the area. Ground vapor and seasonal humidity were raising moisture levels, creating a damp environment beneath the home. Over time, this had caused insulation to fall and increased the risk of mold growth and wood deterioration in the floor joists and support beams.
Without proper moisture control, the crawl space would likely continue to experience humidity problems and potential structural damage.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions recommended encapsulating the crawl space with the CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier System. The heavy-duty liner was installed along the floor and foundation walls to seal off ground moisture and prevent outside humidity from entering the crawl space.
To maintain proper humidity levels, a SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier was installed. This system continuously removes moisture from the air and helps maintain a dry, stable environment beneath the home.
After installation, the crawl space in Roanoke was fully sealed and protected from moisture intrusion. The homeowner appreciated the improved air quality inside the home and the long-term protection provided by the encapsulation system.
