Crawl Space Repair in Waynesboro, Virginia
Challenge
A homeowner in Waynesboro contacted Fortress Foundation Solutions after noticing a persistent musty smell inside their home and increased humidity levels during the warmer months. The homeowner also discovered damp insulation hanging beneath the floor joists when they inspected the crawl space.
Our inspection revealed that the crawl space had exposed soil and lacked adequate moisture protection. Ground vapor was rising directly into the space, and seasonal humidity was contributing to damp conditions beneath the home. Over time, these elevated moisture levels had begun to affect the insulation and wooden framing within the crawl space.
Without proper moisture control, the environment beneath the home could eventually lead to mold growth, wood rot, and declining indoor air quality. The homeowner wanted a permanent solution that would protect their home and improve the crawl space conditions.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions recommended installing a crawl space encapsulation system using the CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier. The heavy-duty liner was installed along the crawl space floor and up the foundation walls, sealing the space from ground moisture and outside humidity.
To further regulate humidity levels, we installed a SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier. This system continuously removes excess moisture from the air and helps maintain a dry and stable environment beneath the home.
After the installation was completed, the crawl space in Waynesboro remained dry and protected. The homeowner noticed a reduction in indoor humidity and improved air quality throughout the home.
