Crawl Space Repair in Huddleston, Virginia
Challenge
A homeowner in Huddleston contacted Fortress Foundation Solutions after discovering damp insulation and a musty smell coming from beneath their home. The issue became more noticeable after several heavy rainstorms, and the homeowner was concerned that the moisture could eventually damage the structure of the house.
Our inspection revealed that the crawl space had exposed dirt floors and poor moisture protection. Ground vapor was entering the space freely, and humidity levels were consistently elevated.
Moisture buildup had caused insulation to fall between the joists, and wooden structural components were exposed to damp conditions. Without proper moisture control, the crawl space environment could lead to mold growth and wood deterioration over time.
The homeowner wanted a long-term solution that would keep the crawl space dry and protect the home’s structural components.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions recommended installing a crawl space encapsulation system to address the moisture issues. Our team installed the CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier across the crawl space floor and along the foundation walls to seal the space from ground moisture.
To maintain dry conditions year-round, we installed a SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier to continuously remove excess moisture from the air and regulate humidity levels beneath the home.
Once the system was installed, the crawl space in Huddleston became a dry and stable environment. The homeowner appreciated the improved air quality and the long-term protection the encapsulation system provided.
