Crawl Space Encapsulation in Powhatan, Virginia
Challenge
A homeowner in Powhatan reached out to Fortress Foundation Solutions after experiencing persistent humidity inside their home and noticing a musty smell that became stronger after rainfall. Upon inspecting the crawl space, they found damp soil, fallen insulation, and visible signs of moisture buildup.
Our inspection confirmed that the crawl space lacked proper moisture protection and ventilation control. Ground vapor was entering the space freely, and seasonal moisture fluctuations were creating a consistently damp environment. Over time, this had begun to affect the insulation and wooden framing beneath the home, increasing the risk of mold growth and structural damage.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions recommended installing a crawl space encapsulation system to eliminate the moisture problem. The CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier was installed across the crawl space floor and along the foundation walls to block ground vapor and outside humidity.
To ensure long-term moisture control, a SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier was installed to continuously remove excess moisture from the air and maintain balanced humidity levels.
After the installation was complete, the crawl space in Powhatan remained dry and protected, even during periods of heavy rain. The homeowner appreciated the improved indoor air quality and the long-term protection provided by the encapsulation system.
