Crawl Space Humidity Issues in Stuarts Draft, Virginia
Challenge
A homeowner in Stuarts Draft reached out to Fortress Foundation Solutions after noticing a persistent musty smell inside their home and increased allergy symptoms among family members. The issue became more noticeable after heavy rain, prompting the homeowner to inspect the crawl space.
Our inspection revealed exposed soil, high humidity levels, and damp insulation that had begun to deteriorate. Ground moisture was entering the crawl space freely, creating a consistently damp environment beneath the home. Over time, this had begun to impact the wooden floor joists and support beams, increasing the risk of mold growth and structural damage.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions recommended installing a crawl space encapsulation system to address the moisture issue at its source. Our team installed the CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier along the crawl space floor and foundation walls, sealing the space from ground moisture and outside humidity.
To maintain a dry environment year-round, we installed a SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier to regulate humidity levels and improve air circulation beneath the home.
Once the system was installed, the crawl space in Stuarts Draft remained dry and stable, even during wet conditions. The homeowner noticed improved indoor air quality and gained confidence that their home was protected from moisture-related issues.
