Quick Crawl Space Encapsulation project in Forest, Virginia!
Challenge
A homeowner in Forest, Carlos, contacted Fortress Foundation Solutions after noticing persistent humidity and a musty odor throughout his home. He also mentioned that his floors felt damp and uncomfortable, especially during the summer months. After inspecting the crawl space himself, Carlos discovered exposed soil and sagging insulation, which raised concerns about moisture and air quality.
During our inspection, we confirmed that ground moisture was freely entering the crawl space due to the lack of a proper vapor barrier. Humidity levels were elevated, and condensation was forming. These conditions created an environment that could lead to mold growth and long-term damage if not addressed.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions recommended a full crawl space encapsulation system. Our team began by preparing the space and removing damaged insulation and debris.
We installed the CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier across the crawl space floor and extended it up the foundation walls to create a complete moisture seal. To improve energy efficiency and further protect the space, we installed SilverGlo™ insulation panels along the crawl space walls.
For moisture control and protection, we installed an UltraSump® sump pump system to actively remove any water intrusion, along with a SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier to regulate humidity levels.
After installation, Carlos’s crawl space in Forest was transformed into a clean, dry, and energy-efficient environment. He noticed improved air quality and greater comfort throughout his home.
