Challenge
A homeowner in Troutsville, Mrs. Johnson, contacted Fortress Foundation Solutions after experiencing a strong musty smell and increased humidity inside her home. She also noticed that her floors felt cold and damp, particularly after rainstorms.
During our evaluation, we found exposed soil, high humidity levels, and deteriorating insulation within the crawl space. Moisture from the ground was entering the space without restriction, creating damp conditions that could eventually lead to mold growth and structural damage.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions recommended a comprehensive crawl space encapsulation system to eliminate the moisture problem. Our team installed the CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier across the crawl space floor and up the foundation walls to seal out ground moisture.
To enhance insulation and energy efficiency, we installed SilverGlo™ wall insulation panels. Additionally, an UltraSump® sump pump system was installed to manage any water intrusion, and a SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier was added to maintain proper humidity levels.
After the project was completed, Mrs. Johnson’s crawl space in Troutsville was dry, insulated, and fully protected. She experienced improved comfort and peace of mind knowing her home was safeguarded against moisture-related issues.
