Sagging Floors Repaired by Fortress in Bedford, Virginia
Challenge
Thomas in Bedford had started to notice that his floors didn’t feel quite right anymore. What used to be solid and level now had a slight dip in certain areas, and over time, that turned into a noticeable sag.
Walking across the room, there was a subtle bounce that hadn’t been there before. Furniture didn’t sit quite level, and a few doors nearby had started sticking just enough to be frustrating.
When we inspected the crawl space, we found the root of the problem. The existing support posts had weakened over time and were no longer providing the support the floor system needed. Some had even begun to settle into the soil, allowing the structure above to sag.
Solution
Our team installed five SmartJacks® beneath the affected areas, placing each one on a solid, engineered base designed to prevent future settlement. Once installed, the jacks were carefully adjusted to lift and stabilize the floor system.
The improvement was immediate. The bounce was reduced, the sagging was corrected, and the floors felt solid again underfoot.
By the end of the project, Thomas’s home in Bedford was properly supported and stable. What started as a subtle issue had been resolved with a long-term solution—giving him confidence every time he walked across his floors.
