Saving money on energy bills in Alexandria, VA
Challenge
Homeowners in Alexandria, VA, were struggling to keep their home comfortable during both the summer and winter months. Despite constantly running their air conditioning or heating system, the indoor temperature was inconsistent, and their energy bills continued to get higher. During a free inspection, our System Designer, Matt, discovered several issues in the crawl space, including open foundation vents, exposed dirt, no dehumidifier, and an improperly sealed crawl space entry door. These conditions were allowing outside air and moisture to enter the crawl space, reducing energy efficiency and creating an unhealthy environment beneath the home.
Solution
To permanently solve the problem, Matt recommended a complete crawl space encapsulation system. The repair plan included installing a CleanSpace® vapor barrier to isolate the crawl space from the earth, SilverGlo™ insulation to improve energy efficiency, a SuperSump® pump to manage groundwater, and a high-performance dehumidifier to control humidity year-round. Together, these systems will create a clean, dry, and conditioned crawl space, helping the homeowners enjoy greater comfort, lower energy costs, and long-term protection for their home.
