Crawl Space Encapsulation on Hickory Way in Charlottesville, VA

System Designer, Chris Wilmouth, went out to a home where the owners had lived for over 30 years! Chris did a thorough inspection of their crawl space and provided a permanent solution that will eliminate their fear of water entering their crawl space!

Our Foreman, David Bowers, and his crew completed a full crawl space encapsulation system which included two Smart Sump Pumps, one SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier and our Clean Space vapor barrier system to keep their new crawl space nice and dry.

Sagging Floors Repaired in Madison Heights, Virginia

In Madison Heights, Todd began noticing soft, bouncy floors throughout parts of his home. As time went on, the sagging and flexing became more noticeable, signaling an underlying structural issue beneath the house. After contacting Fortress Foundation Solutions for a crawl space inspection, we discovered weakened floor joists and areas lacking proper support, which were causing the floors above to sag.

To restore stability, our team installed SmartJack® supports to strengthen and stabilize the floor system. We also added a supplemental beam to better distribute the home's weight and provide added support where it was needed most. In addition, joist sistering was completed throughout key areas of the crawl space to reinforce weakened framing. As shown in the after photos, the floor system is now properly supported, leaving the home feeling solid, stable, and built for long-term performance.

Verona, VA Huge Drainage Problems In A Dug-Out Crawl Space

These homeowners approached Fortress Foundation Solutions for help with their dug-out crawlspace. Their crawlspace was getting penetrated by water at the floor level and mold was beginning to grow on the block walls. Because these homeowners used their crawlspace for storage and a home-workshop, they were worried about their personal belongings getting ruined by the incoming water and the damp, humid environment it was causing.; The incoming water was not only staining the concrete walls and floors, but it was also dampening the plywood the homeowner kept in the basement. A majority of this home’s problems were caused by the lack of a proper drainage system. Because of having little drainage, standing water puddles were also forming in the crawlspace. Fortress provided many solutions for this home’s crawlspace problems. To waterproof the walls of the crawlspace we applied CleanSpace panels to the walls. At the base of the walls, we installed WaterGuard, which captures all of the water that might penetrate the CleanSpace (if it even gets through!).

Verona, VA Foundation Repair and Basement Waterproofing

This homeowner in Verona called Fortress because two of their basement walls were cracking and bowing. There were worried that the wall might collapse. Their basement was also extremely moist. This was causing the insulation to absorb water, grow mold, then fall because the water added too much weight for it to stay up. A Fortress System Designer went to asses this home and decided that the EverBrace Wall  Restoration System and PowerBrace Supports were the best option to prevent further damage. Fortress Started by removing all of the moldy insulation and boarding up the window. Then, Fortress installed a CleanSpace Wall Vapor Barrier and three PowerBraces along one wall. Next, Fortress installed the EverBrace System on the worst wall to make sure that it would no collapse. Fortress finished this job by installing a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier to dry out the basement and prevent future mold from growing. Both the EverBrace System and the PowerBrace supports are zinc coated to resist corrosion and stay pristine. Both can easily be concealed by drywall if the homeowners want to finish the basement in the future. No one would ever know that there was once a crumbling wall there!
