Basement Waterproofing in Moneta, Virginia
Challenge
A homeowner in Moneta, Virginia had lived with a damp basement for over a decade, but the problem steadily worsened as heavier storms became more frequent. Water would enter through the joint where the basement wall met the floor, spreading across the concrete and soaking stored belongings. The homeowner also noticed peeling paint, efflorescence on the walls, and a persistent musty odor that crept into the main living space. Despite running a small portable dehumidifier and vacuuming up water during storms, nothing provided long-term relief. The homeowner became increasingly worried about mold growth and the effect the moisture could have on their home’s foundation.
Solution
Our System Design Specialist performed a detailed inspection and determined that hydrostatic pressure was forcing groundwater through the foundation walls and floor joints. To permanently resolve the issue, we installed the WaterGuard® Interior Drainage System along the full perimeter of the basement. This sub-floor system collects water at its point of entry and channels it safely away before it can reach the basement floor.
The drainage system was connected to the TripleSafe™ Sump Pump System, which provides three levels of pumping protection, including a battery-powered backup that operates during power outages. To control humidity and improve air quality, we installed the SaniDry™ Sedona dehumidifier, which efficiently removes moisture and filters airborne particles.
After installation, the basement stayed completely dry even during heavy rain. The musty odors disappeared, humidity levels stabilized, and the homeowner gained peace of mind knowing their basement was protected by a reliable, permanent waterproofing system.
