Basement Waterproofing in Hamilton, VA
Challenge
A homeowner in Hamilton, Virginia contacted Fortress Foundation Solutions after noticing water stains and bubbling paint along the walls of their finished basement. The space was used as a family room and guest area, so even small amounts of moisture caused significant concern. During heavy rain, damp spots appeared near the base of the walls, and the carpet felt slightly wet in certain areas. Over time, a faint musty odor developed, suggesting that moisture was being trapped behind the drywall.
The homeowner had invested heavily in finishing their basement and was worried that continued water intrusion would lead to mold growth, ruined flooring, and expensive repairs. They had tried using portable dehumidifiers and sealants on the walls, but the water kept finding its way inside. They wanted a solution that would protect the basement permanently without tearing out their finished space.
Solution
A System Design Specialist from Fortress Foundation Solutions performed a detailed inspection and found that groundwater was entering through the foundation walls and floor joint due to hydrostatic pressure. To control the water at its source, our team installed the WaterGuard® Interior Drainage System along the perimeter of the basement beneath the floor slab. This system captures water before it reaches the surface and safely channels it away.
The drainage system was connected to the TripleSafe™ Sump Pump System, which includes three pumps for maximum reliability, including a battery backup for power outages. To ensure the air stayed dry and healthy, we installed the SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier, which continuously removes excess moisture and filters airborne particles.
After installation, the basement remained completely dry, even during heavy rain. The homeowner was relieved to know their finished space was fully protected and safe from future water damage.
