Basement Waterproofing in Berryville, Virginia
Challenge
A homeowner in Berryville, Virginia contacted Fortress Foundation Solutions after noticing water consistently appearing along the perimeter of their basement. After heavy rain, thin streams of water would seep through the joint where the basement walls met the floor, slowly spreading across the concrete slab. Over time, the homeowner began to see dark staining along the lower walls and a strong musty odor develop throughout the space.
The basement was partially finished and used as a family recreation area, but the damp conditions made it uncomfortable and unsafe. The homeowner worried about mold growth behind the walls and damage to flooring, furniture, and electronics. They had attempted to seal cracks and improve exterior drainage, but water continued to enter during every storm. They wanted a permanent waterproofing solution that would protect their basement and preserve their home’s value.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions designed a complete waterproofing system tailored to the home’s needs. We installed the WaterGuard® Interior Drainage System beneath the basement floor along the perimeter. This system captures water that seeps through the walls or floor joints and directs it safely to the TripleSafe™ Sump Pump System.
The TripleSafe system features three separate pumps, including a battery-powered backup, ensuring reliable operation even during power outages or heavy storms. To eliminate excess humidity and improve air quality, we also installed the SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier. This high-efficiency system continuously removes moisture from the air and filters mold spores, allergens, and odors.
With the system in place, the basement remained dry and comfortable, giving the homeowner confidence that their space was permanently protected.
