Basement Waterproofing in Blue Grass, Virginia
Challenge
A homeowner in Blue Grass, Virginia contacted Fortress Foundation Solutions after discovering water leaking through multiple cracks in their basement walls. During heavy rainfall, small streams of water would trickle down the foundation and collect on the concrete floor. Over time, dampness spread throughout the basement, causing stored boxes to soften and collapse and metal shelving to rust. The air became thick with a musty odor that eventually traveled into the main living areas of the home.
The homeowner had tried using fans and store-bought dehumidifiers, but these temporary measures could not keep up with the constant moisture. They were increasingly worried that mold could develop behind finished walls and insulation, leading to health risks and expensive repairs. The homeowner wanted a long-term waterproofing solution that would address the root cause of the water intrusion rather than just mask the symptoms.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions designed a custom waterproofing system to protect the basement from ongoing moisture. The first step was installing the WaterGuard® Interior Drainage System beneath the basement floor along the perimeter. This sub-floor drainage system captures water entering through wall and floor cracks and directs it safely to the TripleSafe™ Sump Pump System.
The TripleSafe system features three pumps, including a battery backup, ensuring continuous protection even during power outages or extreme weather. To further control moisture and improve indoor air quality, the SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier was installed. This powerful system removes excess humidity from the air while filtering out mold spores and allergens that contribute to odors and poor air quality.
Once the system was in place, the basement remained dry, clean, and comfortable. The homeowner regained confidence in their home’s safety and value.
