Basement Waterproofing in Silver Spring, Maryland
Challenge
A homeowner in Silver Spring contacted Fortress Foundation Solutions after experiencing repeated water intrusion in their basement during heavy rainstorms. Water would seep in along the wall-floor joint and collect near one corner of the unfinished basement. Over time, damp odors developed, and stored belongings showed signs of moisture exposure. The homeowner was concerned that continued water intrusion could lead to mold growth and structural deterioration.
Our comprehensive inspection revealed that hydrostatic pressure from saturated soil surrounding the foundation was forcing groundwater through small cracks and porous concrete. Without a proper drainage system in place, water had no controlled path for removal. The homeowner wanted a permanent, professionally installed waterproofing solution that would protect their home year-round.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions installed a full-perimeter WaterGuard® sub-floor drainage system to intercept groundwater before it could enter the basement space. The system was carefully placed beneath the slab along the foundation walls to capture seepage from both the wall and footing.
Collected water was directed into a TripleSafe™ sump pump system, providing reliable pumping capacity and backup protection during severe storms or power outages. To control humidity and protect indoor air quality, a SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier was also installed.
After installation, the basement in Silver Spring remained dry even during significant rainfall, giving the homeowner lasting peace of mind and protecting the home’s value.
