Basement Waterproofing in Fairfax, Virginia
Challenge
A homeowner in Fairfax reached out to Fortress Foundation Solutions after experiencing water intrusion in their finished basement. Following extended rainstorms, moisture would appear along the perimeter walls, causing sections of carpet to feel damp and raising concerns about hidden mold behind drywall. The homeowner was worried about damage to the finished living space and potential impacts on indoor air quality.
During our comprehensive evaluation, we determined that rising groundwater levels were placing significant hydrostatic pressure against the foundation walls. This pressure forced water through minor cracks and the wall-floor joint. Without an interior drainage system and reliable sump pump in place, the problem was likely to continue and potentially worsen. The homeowner wanted a permanent solution that would protect their investment and prevent future water damage.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions designed and installed a customized waterproofing system tailored to the home’s finished layout. A WaterGuard® drainage system was installed along the interior perimeter to capture groundwater discreetly before it entered the living space.
The system was connected to a TripleSafe™ sump pump, providing powerful and reliable water removal even during severe weather conditions. Additionally, a SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier was installed to regulate humidity levels and protect the finished basement environment.
With the system fully operational, the Fairfax basement remained dry and protected through subsequent storms. The homeowner gained lasting peace of mind knowing their home was equipped with a comprehensive, long-term waterproofing solution.
