Basement Waterproofing in Charlottesville, Virginia
Challenge
A homeowner in Charlottesville contacted Fortress Foundation Solutions after noticing persistent moisture and musty odors in their basement. After several heavy storms, water began appearing along the perimeter walls and occasionally pooled on the floor near one corner of the space.
During our detailed inspection, we found that groundwater surrounding the foundation was creating hydrostatic pressure against the basement walls. This pressure forced moisture through small cracks and the cove joint where the wall meets the floor. Without a drainage system or sump pump to manage incoming water, the basement remained susceptible to repeated moisture problems.
The homeowner wanted a professional waterproofing solution that would permanently protect their basement and allow them to safely use the space for storage.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions installed a comprehensive basement waterproofing system designed to manage groundwater and maintain a dry environment. Our team installed the WaterGuard® sub-floor drainage system along the interior perimeter of the basement to capture water seepage before it reached the floor surface.
The drainage system was connected to a TripleSafe™ sump pump system that provides reliable pumping power and backup protection during severe weather. Additionally, a SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier was installed to control humidity levels and maintain healthier air quality throughout the basement.
After the installation was completed, the basement in Charlottesville remained consistently dry even during heavy rainfall. The homeowner gained long-term protection and confidence knowing their basement was properly waterproofed.
