Basement Waterproofing home in Eagle Rock, Virginia
Challenge
A homeowner in Eagle Rock, Gayle, contacted Fortress Foundation Solutions after experiencing repeated water intrusion in her basement during heavy rain. What began as minor damp spots along the walls eventually developed into standing water in certain areas of the basement floor. She also noticed a persistent musty odor, raising concerns about mold and air quality.
During our inspection, we found that hydrostatic pressure from saturated soil surrounding the foundation was forcing groundwater through the wall-floor joint and small cracks in the concrete.
The basement lacked a proper drainage system, allowing water to accumulate with no controlled way to remove it. If left unaddressed, the issue could lead to damage to stored belongings and long-term structural concerns.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions recommended a comprehensive basement waterproofing system to permanently address the issue. Our team installed a WaterGuard® sub-floor drainage system along the interior perimeter of the basement to capture incoming water before it reached the surface.
The system was connected to a TripleSafe™ sump pump to ensure reliable water removal, even during heavy storms or power outages. To further improve the environment, we installed a SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier to control humidity levels and reduce moisture in the air.
After installation, Gayle’s basement in Eagle Rock remained dry and protected, even during severe weather. She gained peace of mind knowing her basement had a long-term solution in place to prevent future water intrusion.
