Challenge
When Mrs. Keller in Hagerstown reached out to Fortress Foundation Solutions, she was frustrated with a basement that never seemed to stay dry. After every heavy rain, she’d find damp spots creeping along the walls—and occasionally small puddles forming near the corners.
At first, it was manageable. But over time, the musty smell became impossible to ignore, and she started worrying about mold and the safety of storing anything downstairs. She wanted to use the space again without constantly checking the weather forecast.
Our inspection quickly revealed the root of the issue: hydrostatic pressure from saturated soil was forcing water through the foundation at the wall-floor joint. Without a proper drainage system, the water had nowhere to go once it entered.
Solution
We designed a waterproofing system tailored to her home. First, we installed a WaterGuard® drainage system along the basement perimeter to capture water before it could reach the floor.
That water is now directed into a TripleSafe™ sump pump, giving her reliable protection even during heavy storms or power outages. To finish things off, we added a SaniDry™ Sedona
Dehumidifier to handle humidity and eliminate that lingering musty smell.
Now, Mrs. Keller’s basement stays dry no matter the weather—and she finally feels comfortable using the space again.
