When a homeowner in Roanoke began experiencing persistent musty odors and noticed their hardwood floors starting to cup slightly, especially during humid months, they grew concerned about potential moisture issues beneath their home. They wanted a solution that would eliminate the odor, protect their flooring, and improve the overall air quality inside their home.
During the inspection, it was discovered that the crawl space had high humidity levels due to poor ventilation and an ineffective, partially damaged vapor barrier. Moisture was accumulating in the space, leading to damp wood framing and early signs of mold growth. Insulation had also begun to fall from between the floor joists, reducing energy efficiency.
To resolve these issues, Fortress Foundation Solutions performed a full crawl space encapsulation. The team removed damaged insulation and debris before installing the CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier along the floor and walls to block ground moisture. A SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier was installed to control humidity year-round.
As a result, the crawl space is now dry and protected, helping preserve the home’s structure while improving indoor air quality and comfort for the homeowner.
In Roanoke, David P. reached out to us at Fortress Foundation Solutions because he noticed his floors were uneven and unstable. Living with a persistent floor bounce and feeling concerned about the structure of his home, David sought a dependable solution.
To address these issues effectively, we proposed the installation of our SmartJack® System. This advanced system is specifically engineered to stabilize crawl space beams and floor joists. With meticulous precision, our skilled production team began the installation, setting robust galvanized steel columns on durable steel bases to ensure a minimum impact on the foundation. The SmartJack® components were seamlessly cut to fit and secured to existing girders using thoughtfully designed adjustable top brackets. This setup was intentionally crafted to distribute the weight evenly across engineered fill, compensating for weaker soils.
Upon completion of the installation, David's floors were noticeably more stable. The SmartJacks® managed not only to fortify the underlying structure but also to restore much of the floor's original level, alleviating the bounce and unevenness he had been struggling with. Achieving the ideal condition for his floors meant David could navigate his home with renewed confidence, embodying our mission of providing a remarkable experience with lasting solutions.
