Challenge
A homeowner in Sykesville, Maryland, noticed that her foundation wall was beginning to bow inward and had developed a small but noticeable horizontal crack. She called Fortress and scheduled a free evaluation with one of our skilled System Design Specialists. Upon inspection, we confirmed that hydrostatic pressure was causing the foundation wall to fail.
Solution
We stabilized the foundation wall using five CarbonArmor® straps. CarbonArmor is 10 times stronger than steel and helps protect the wall against further inward movement. We then addressed the underlying water issue by installing a WaterGuard® drainage system and sump pump to collect and safely discharge water away from the home.
