Brian, a homeowner in Vienna, VA, took one look into his crawl space and knew he needed to call a professional. He saw mold, smelled musty odors caused by excess moisture, and noticed his floor joists were beginning to crumble when touched.
After a quick Google search, he found Fortress Foundation Solutions and scheduled a free inspection online. Matt, one of our experienced System Designers, confirmed high moisture levels, organic growth, and deteriorating floor joists caused by prolonged moisture exposure.
To permanently address the problem, Matt recommended a complete crawl space encapsulation system, including SilverGlo® insulation, a CleanSpace® vapor barrier, a SaniDry Sedona® dehumidifier, and supplemental beams with SmartJacks® to stabilize the floors by transferring the home's weight from weakened wood to durable steel supports.
Nick and his crew completed the installation, giving Brian cleaner air throughout his home, a dry and usable crawl space for storage, and a stable foundation he can rely on for years to come.
Cliff and Megan in Vienna, Virginia started noticing higher humidity in their home along with a light musty smell that wouldn’t go away. After some heavy rains, they suspected moisture might be building up in the crawl space and reached out to our team to schedule a FREE inspection. Our system designer evaluated the space and found ground moisture, poor drainage, and no proper barrier to protect the home from humidity.
After reviewing the proposal, Cliff and Megan decided to move forward with the work. Our crew installed an EZ Flow drainage system to direct water out of the crawl space, along with a SuperSump system to safely discharge any incoming water. We then sealed the area with a CleanSpace vapor barrier and added a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to control humidity.
Now, the crawl space is dry and sealed. Cliff and Megan can enjoy lower humidity, no musty odors, and a more comfortable living space.
In Adamstown, MD, a homeowner was looking to upgrade their crawl space and contacted Fortress Foundation Solutions for a free inspection. Paul, one of our experienced System Designers, performed a thorough evaluation of the crawl space and discovered signs of water intrusion and elevated humidity levels.
After reviewing his findings and recommendations, the homeowners decided to move forward with the project. Our crew removed the hanging insulation, addressed the water issues, installed our drainage system, and tied everything into a TripleSafe™ sump pump system.
While a TripleSafe™ sump pump is not typically necessary in every crawl space, this particular home was taking on a significant amount of water. Based on the conditions, we determined that installing the sump pump was the best long-term solution to properly protect the crawl space and keep it dry.
This client reached out to Fortress Foundation Solutions with concerns about their crawlspace. One of our system designers visited their home and identified several areas needing attention. We installed our CleanSpace Wall System, multiple SmartJacks to support the main beam and prevent further floor sagging, and our PowerBrace Wall Support system to repair and stabilize the foundation walls against future bowing. We’re thrilled to help create a safer, healthier environment for their home!
In Annandale, Virginia, a homeowner sought assistance from Fortress Foundation Solutions after receiving a recommendation regarding elevated moisture levels in their recently purchased property's dirt crawlspace. System designer Todd Simmons offered comprehensive insights during the consultation, emphasizing the modern approach of treating crawl spaces as integral components of home structure rather than external areas.
Todd explained the necessity of separating the earth from the home and protecting it against environmental factors. Impressed by Todd's expertise, the homeowner chose Fortress Foundation Solutions for a comprehensive solution.
Our team prioritized ensuring a consistently dry crawl space through meticulous planning. This involved digging trenches and connecting them to our Triple Safe Sump System, renowned for its reliability and resilience with three pumps and a backup generator, effectively addressing water infiltration concerns.
Additionally, we installed drainage matting followed by over 100 feet of our proprietary CleanSpace encapsulation system. This multi-layered solution, engineered for durability, effectively isolates the crawl space from external elements, fortifying the home against moisture intrusion and enhancing its structural integrity.
