This homeowner in Arlington, Virginia had been dealing with water in his basement. He attempted to remedy the basement flooding issue with an inefficient open sump pump. Not only could this generic sump pump not keep the basement dry, but it not being sealed properly posed other issues. The open sump allowed moisture from the water it did collect to escape out into the space, which was causing the air to be humid and smell musty. He decided he needed a permanent fix, so he called Fortress Foundation Solutions. Our system designer went to the home and gave a free estimate and designed a system to remedy the problem. Fortress installed a waterproofing system that included our SuperSump pump, which is capable of pumping 2,200 gallons of water per hour. This SuperSump was installed with our UltraSump battery back up system that continues to pump up to 11,500 gallons of water during a power outage. All of our sump systems are air tight so moisture and smells can't escape into the air of the home.
Homeowners in Arlington noticed musty odors in their basement and could feel excess moisture in the air after heavy rainstorms. Eventually, they also noticed bubbling beneath their flooring, indicating water intrusion. They called Fortress, and we sent Cara, one of our skilled System Designers, to evaluate the issue. Using a hygrometer and a high-quality moisture meter, Cara was able to detect moisture behind the finished walls and identify the source of the problem. She designed a permanent solution, and Gustavo and his crew completed the installation.
Scott, a homeowner in Brookeville, Maryland, noticed over time that his gorgeous front patio was sinking significantly - particularly causing the patio roof to begin slanting as well. He called Fortress, and we sent out Skylar to perform a thorough evaluation. After inspecting the structure, Skylar determined that the patio was too heavy for the soil beneath it. With nearly a 6-inch drop, as seen in the before photo, Skylar knew the porch needed to be stabilized and that there was also a possibility of lifting it back up.
Nick was the foreman on this project, along with his helper Ricardo. They got to work installing two helical piers to permanently stabilize the patio. In the after photo, you can see how cleanly the bracket is installed - and once covered with dirt, it sits nearly flush with the ground.
Before, the Fitzgeralds in Alexandria, were experiencing structural concerns beneath the deck that supported their sunroom. After a full inspection, we found the area needed additional support, but the tight crawlspace made access difficult and required sections of the deck boards to be carefully removed. Gustavo, our foreman, and his crew installed 8 SmartJacks along with 20 feet of supplemental beam to properly stabilize the structure. Now, the sunroom is safely supported and stabilized for years to come.
Tackling water intrusion challenges in Alexandria, VA, our team transformed a wet basement into a fortress against moisture. As seen in the before photo, unwanted water made itself at home, revealing efflorescence behind walls. System designer, Skylar followed our mission: replace worry with wellbeing. By installing our TripleSafe Sump Pump, IceGuard, CleanSpace, SaniDry Sedona, and WaterGuard systems, we reclaimed this basement space, as showcased in the after photo. Our thrust for solving complex issues ensured a dry, serene, and reliable outcome—fortifying homes and peace of mind, alike.
