Failing Wall leads to concerned owners (Ripplemead, VA)
Challenge
A homeowner in Ripplemead, Virginia reached out after discovering that one of their basement walls was leaning inward. Over several years, moisture had accumulated around the foundation due to poor drainage and frequent rainfall. As the soil became saturated, hydrostatic pressure built up behind the foundation wall, causing visible cracking and inward movement.
The homeowner noticed that doors above the basement no longer closed properly and hairline cracks began forming in the drywall on the main level. These warning signs raised serious concerns about the structural integrity of the home. The homeowner feared that continued movement could result in extensive structural damage and costly repairs if left unaddressed.
They needed a permanent wall support solution that could stabilize the foundation without disrupting landscaping or requiring excavation around the home.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions installed the PowerBrace™ Wall Repair System to reinforce and stabilize the leaning wall. Steel PowerBrace beams were installed along the length of the wall and anchored to the basement floor and overhead framing. This created a strong vertical support system that resists soil pressure and prevents further inward movement.
The installation was completed entirely from inside the basement, minimizing disruption to the home. With the PowerBrace system in place, the wall was stabilized immediately, restoring structural integrity and peace of mind for the homeowner.
