Bowing Wall Repair in Danville, Virginia
Challenge
A homeowner in Danville contacted Fortress Foundation Solutions after noticing significant deterioration along one of their basement foundation walls. Large horizontal cracks had developed over time, and portions of the wall showed visible bowing and separation between the concrete blocks. The homeowner had previously attempted minor patch repairs, but the cracking continued to worsen, especially after periods of heavy rainfall.
During a comprehensive inspection, it was determined that years of hydrostatic pressure from saturated soil had severely compromised the structural integrity of the wall. The block foundation had begun to shift inward, and mortar joints were deteriorating due to constant moisture exposure. Unlike minor bowing issues, this wall showed advanced structural failure that required more than simple reinforcement.
The homeowner was concerned about the safety of the home and wanted a permanent solution that would restore the wall’s strength without requiring full foundation replacement.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions recommended the installation of the EverBrace® Wall Restoration System, a heavy-duty solution designed to permanently stabilize and reinforce failing foundation walls. The EverBrace® system works by transferring the structural load of the home from the damaged wall to engineered steel I-beams installed inside the basement.
During installation, steel beams were positioned along the failing wall and secured to the floor and framing above. High-strength rigid foam was then injected between the steel supports and the existing wall to fill voids and create a solid backing. This process effectively locked the wall in place and restored structural stability without exterior excavation.
Once completed, the failing wall was permanently stabilized, and the load was safely redistributed through the EverBrace® system. The homeowner regained peace of mind knowing their foundation was reinforced with a long-term solution designed to protect the structural integrity and value of their home.
