Foundation Repair in Martinsburg, West Virginia
Challenge
A homeowner in Martinsburg contacted Fortress Foundation Solutions after noticing widening cracks along their foundation walls and brick veneer. Interior doors had begun sticking, and sections of the floor felt slightly uneven. Over time, the cracks became more pronounced, especially after seasonal weather changes.
During our inspection, we determined that settlement was occurring along one side of the home due to unstable, compressible soils beneath the foundation footing. Fluctuations in moisture levels had caused the soil to expand and contract, gradually reducing support under the structure. Without intervention, continued settlement could lead to further structural damage and costly repairs. The homeowner wanted a permanent solution that would stabilize the foundation and potentially restore it to its original position.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions recommended installing a steel Push Pier system to permanently stabilize the affected foundation section. Excavation was performed at strategic locations to expose the footing, and heavy-duty steel brackets were securely attached.
Engineered steel pier sections were hydraulically driven deep into the ground until stable load-bearing strata were reached. Once all piers were installed, synchronized hydraulic lifting was performed to carefully raise the settled portion of the home toward its original elevation.
After stabilization was achieved, the piers were permanently secured, and the excavated areas were restored. The homeowner gained peace of mind knowing their Martinsburg home was now supported by a reliable, long-term structural repair solution.
