Foundation Repair in Bridgewater, Virginia
Challenge
A homeowner in Bridgewater contacted Fortress Foundation Solutions after noticing stair-step cracks forming along the exterior brick and separation around interior door frames. Over time, doors became difficult to close properly, and small gaps developed between walls and ceiling trim. The homeowner grew concerned that the foundation was shifting.
During our inspection, we identified differential settlement along one side of the home. Changes in soil moisture levels had caused the supporting soils beneath the foundation footing to weaken and compress. As a result, part of the structure had begun to sink unevenly. If left unaddressed, continued settlement could lead to additional cracking and structural misalignment.
The homeowner wanted a permanent solution that would stop the movement and protect the long-term integrity of the home.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions recommended installing a steel Push Pier system to permanently stabilize the affected foundation section. Excavation was performed to expose the footing, and heavy-duty brackets were securely attached.
High-strength steel pier sections were hydraulically driven deep into stable load-bearing soil beneath the home. Once sufficient resistance was achieved, controlled hydraulic lifting was performed to restore the settled portion toward its original position. The piers were then permanently secured, transferring the weight of the home to stable strata below.
Following installation, the foundation was fully stabilized. The homeowner in Bridgewater gained peace of mind knowing their home was supported by a reliable, long-term structural repair solution.
