Bowing Wall Repair in Lynchburg, Virginia
Challenge
Paula Jones, a homeowner in Lynchburg contacted Fortress Foundation Solutions after noticing horizontal cracks forming along one of her basement foundation walls. Over time, the cracks had become more pronounced, and the wall showed signs of slight inward movement near the center. She grew increasingly concerned about the structural integrity of their foundation, especially after periods of heavy rainfall when the surrounding soil became saturated.
Paula wanted a reliable, non-invasive solution that would stabilize the wall without requiring exterior excavation or major disruption to the basement space.
Solution
Wt at Fortress Foundation Solutions recommended the CarbonArmor® Wall Stabilization System to stabilize the bowing wall. This system uses high-strength carbon fiber straps that are significantly stronger than steel and designed to permanently reinforce foundation walls.
For this project, our team installed five CarbonArmor® straps evenly spaced along the affected section of the wall. Each strap was bonded directly to the wall using a high-strength epoxy resin, creating a strong, permanent connection that prevents further inward movement.
The low-profile design of the CarbonArmor® system allowed the installation to be completed with minimal disruption to the basement. Once installed, the straps immediately stabilized the wall and stopped any additional bowing.
