Bowing Wall Repair in Blacksburg, Virginia
Challenge
Ellen contacted us at Fortress Foundation Solutions after noticing horizontal cracks forming along one of her basement foundation walls. Over time, the cracks became more pronounced, and the wall showed early signs of inward movement. Ellen grew concerned about the stability of her home, especially after periods of heavy rain when moisture levels in the surrounding soil increased.
Solution
Fortress Foundation Solutions recommended the CarbonArmor® Wall Reinforcing System to stabilize the bowing wall. This system uses high-strength carbon fiber straps that are designed to permanently reinforce foundation walls and prevent further inward movement.
For this project, our team installed 10 CarbonArmor® straps evenly spaced along the affected wall to provide maximum reinforcement. Each strap was bonded directly to the wall using a high-strength epoxy resin, creating a strong and durable connection that locks the wall in place.
After the project was completed, Ellen’s basement wall in Blacksburg was fully reinforced and protected. She gained peace of mind knowing her home was supported by a long-term solution that preserved both the structural integrity of the foundation and the usability of her basement space.
