GeoLocks Used to Support Bowing Walls in Rustburg, Virginia
Challenge
Donna in Rustburg had been keeping an eye on a crack in her basement wall for a while. At first, it didn’t seem like a big deal—just a typical crack that many homeowners might overlook.
But over time, that crack started to grow. Then another appeared. Eventually, Donna noticed something more concerning—the wall itself seemed to be shifting inward.
After a period of heavy rain, the changes became more noticeable, and that’s when she knew it was time to have it looked at. She didn’t want to risk the problem getting worse or turning into a much bigger structural issue.
When we inspected the basement, we found that the wall was indeed bowing inward due to pressure from the soil outside. As the ground became saturated, it expanded and pushed against the foundation wall. Over time, that pressure had caused the wall to move.
Solution
To stabilize the wall and restore its strength, we recommended installing the GeoLock® Wall Anchor System.
Our team installed four GeoLock® wall anchors along the affected wall. These anchors extend from the inside of the basement wall out into stable soil beyond the home, where they are secured with heavy-duty steel plates.
Once installed, the system immediately stabilized the wall, preventing any further inward movement. One of the key benefits of the GeoLock® system is that it can be tightened over time, which may help gradually pull the wall back toward its original position.
By the end of the project, Donna’s basement wall in Rustburg was secure and stable. What had started as a growing concern was now fully addressed with a long-term solution—giving her confidence that her home is protected moving forward.
