Sticky door fix in Hedgesville, WV
Challenge
Mr. Louis had noticed stair-step cracks forming on two walls on the side of his home, but he didn’t think much of it until the door leading to his outdoor garden started sticking - significantly. Nervous about the potential cost, he still reached out to Fortress for a free estimate.
Joe came out to evaluate the property and took precise measurements to determine where settlement was occurring and how severe it was. They sat down at the kitchen table, and Joe explained everything he had observed. His proposed solution included 17 push piers.
Push piers use the weight of the home and the Earth’s stable soil layers to permanently stabilize settling foundations. Mr. Louis agreed to the proposal, and we got to work.
Solution
Nick was the foreman on the project, and with years of experience, he led a crew of four others to get the job done right. In some areas, the team had to hand-dig to reach beneath the footing so they could properly place the brackets and begin installing the push piers.
The project took four days to complete, but in the end, they were able to lift and stabilize Mr. Louis’s home and close the stair-step cracks almost seamlessly.
