Stabilizing a porch in Brookville, MD
Challenge
Scott, a homeowner in Brookeville, Maryland, noticed that over time his gorgeous front patio had begun sinking significantly, causing the patio roof to slant as well. After calling Fortress, Skylar performed a thorough evaluation and determined that the structure was too heavy for the soil beneath it. the patio had settled nearly 6 inches and needed permanent stabilization before the problem worsened.
Solution
Nick, the foreman on this project, along with his helper Ricardo, installed two helical piers to permanently stabilize the sinking patio. With the piers properly installed, the structure now has the support it needs to prevent further settlement, and there was even potential to lift the patio back closer to its original position. The bracket system gets installed and once covered with dirt, it sits nearly flush with the ground.
