Bowing Wall Repair in Mount Airy, Maryland
Challenge
Richard in Mount Airy, Maryland had started noticing one of his basement walls beginning to bow inward. While the movement wasn’t severe yet, it was clear the wall was under pressure and likely to worsen over time if left untreated.
Wanting to address the issue early, Richard reached out to Fortress Foundation Solutions for a professional inspection.
After evaluating the basement, we found that pressure from the soil surrounding the home was pushing against the foundation wall and causing it to shift inward. Catching the problem early gave us the opportunity to stabilize the wall before more significant structural damage occurred.
Solution
To reinforce the wall and stop further movement, Toby and his crew installed 3 GeoLock® Wall Anchors along the affected section of the basement.
These anchors extend from the inside of the wall into stable soil away from the home, helping counteract the pressure pushing against the foundation. Once installed, the system immediately stabilized the wall and provided long-term structural support.
