Bowing Wall Support in Timberville, Virginia
Challenge
John S. in Timberville, Virginia was dealing with a major foundation issue in his basement. Over time, one of the walls had developed significant inward bowing, and the movement had become severe enough to raise serious concerns about the stability of the home.
The wall was clearly under heavy pressure, and the problem had progressed well beyond a minor crack or slight shift.
After inspecting the basement, we found that pressure from the surrounding soil had caused extensive movement along the wall. Because of the size and severity of the issue, the home required a combination of stabilization systems to properly reinforce the structure.
Solution
To secure the wall and stop further movement, the team installed 9 PowerBrace® support beams across the affected section of the basement. These steel beams were used to reinforce the wall from inside the home and provide long-term structural stability.
In areas needing additional reinforcement, Warren and his crew also installed 2 GeoLock® Wall Anchors to help counteract the pressure pushing against the foundation from outside the home.
By the time the project was complete, the basement wall was fully stabilized and significantly more secure. What had once been a major structural concern is now a controlled situation, giving John peace of mind knowing his home has reliable long-term support in place.
