Major Foundation Repair Project in Salem, Virginia
Challenge
When Dennis in Salem, Virginia reached out to Fortress Foundation Solutions, he was dealing with more than just one foundation problem. Sections of the home were showing signs of settlement, while a basement wall had developed a large horizontal crack and noticeable inward bowing.
The issues had progressed to the point where Dennis was understandably concerned about the long-term stability of his home. With both foundation settlement and wall movement occurring at the same time, a comprehensive repair plan was needed.
Solution
Toby and his crew tackled the project by addressing both structural concerns from the ground up.
To stabilize the settling foundation, the team installed 6 Helical Piers beneath the affected areas of the home. These piers were advanced into stable soil to provide permanent support and help prevent further settlement.
To secure the bowing and cracked foundation walls, the crew installed 16 GeoLock® Wall Anchors and 7 PowerBrace® support beams. Together, these systems work to counteract soil pressure, reinforce the walls, and prevent additional inward movement.
By the time the project was complete, Dennis's home had been fully stabilized and reinforced. What began as a serious structural concern is now a secure and controlled situation. Dennis can move forward with confidence knowing his foundation and basement walls have the long-term support needed to protect his home for years to come.
