Bowing Walls at a Church in Boydton, Virginia
Challenge
A church in Boydton, Virginia contacted Fortress Foundation Solutions after noticing signs of movement along one of the basement walls in its fellowship hall. While the issue was isolated to a single section of wall, the inward movement had become concerning enough that church leadership wanted it evaluated before the problem worsened.
After a thorough inspection, we found that pressure from the surrounding soil had caused the wall to begin shifting inward. To protect the building and prevent further structural movement, the wall needed to be stabilized with a permanent support system.
Solution
Tyler and his crew installed 9 GeoLock® Wall Anchors along the affected section of the basement wall.
These anchors extend into stable soil away from the building and work to counteract the pressure pushing against the foundation wall. Once installed, the system immediately reinforced the wall and provided long-term structural support.
By the time the project was complete, the fellowship hall basement wall was stabilized and properly secured. Church leadership now has peace of mind knowing the building is protected from further wall movement and has a reliable solution in place for the future.
